What does it take to post a bail bond?Judges GavelBy calling us for assistance, we’ll explain the entire process and answer all your questions and concerns. In most cases the inmate’s relative or close friend will contact us initially. This individual is usually the person who will actually pay to post the bond, and is better known as the co-signer, or Indemnitor.
Once the amount is determined, which could be set based on the O.C. Bail Schedule; we will work out an agreement with the co-signer to pay the state regulated 10% of the total amount of the cost. For example, if the amount is set at $15,000, you will only have to pay an affordable $1,500, along with the “guarantee” that the defendant will show up for all court appearances.
We also offer 8% bonds to defendants referred to us by criminal attorneys with whom they have retained for their defense. Have your attorney contact us and save 2% on your overall fee.What if the defendant doesn’t appear for scheduled court dates?As the company who underwrites the bond, we will have 180 days to find and re-arrest (surrender) the defendant back to jail, re-write or re-instate the bond, which will save you from paying the full amount of the bond.
How long will it take to release an inmate?If the amount is posted before an inmate is transferred to a county jail, you could be looking at 15 minutes to one hour in most city jails. But, if the inmate is transferred to a county jail, you could be looking at up to 24 hours. O.C. Jails,Most Sheriff Stations and local police departments are not equipped to hold arrestees until their hearing, which is usually within two days after their arrest, due to the lack of space. This means they will probably be transferred to one of three county detention facilities.The Main OC Jail – Located in the county seat of Santa Ana, this facility holds men and women inmates in two separate buildings on the same site. Theo Lacy Jail – This jail is located in the City of Orange, and known as a maximum security facility. Inmates are transferred here with misdemeanor and felony changes. As the largest jail in Orange County, they can hold more than 3,000 inmates.James A. Musick Facility – This minimum security jail borders Irvine and Lake Forest, and is better known as “The Farm”.
